There isn’t a week that goes by without something exciting happening in Ontario’s energy marketplace. In a deregulated industry where prices are often volatile and unpredictable, job opportunities in the energy field promise a lively and engaging career for students that are beginning to consider what path their lives will take. Positions can be as diverse as working with green energy, with utilities, energy suppliers along with countless others in consulting.
David Arkell, president and CEO of 360 Energy, will be addressing grade eleven and twelve students as the keynote speaker for the District of Niagara School Board’s Energy Conference on November 25th. He will be discussing the current energy marketplace, along with some of the career opportunities that await students who are thinking about entering into this field.
With Ontario’s green energy initiatives, a shift in focus from manufacturing to high-tech, energy efficiency jobs, coupled with the fact that a large percentage of the workforce is becoming eligible for retirement within the next 2-5 years, opportunities abound in the energy sector. Students considering programs at Colleges and Universities throughout the province which offer a focus on preparing students for careers in the energy field are sure to yield rewards for those that choose to head in this direction.
